June 5th, 2014

Great timing for this Mississauga cancelled gas plant blog because this just in about Dalton McGuinty:

So. The OPP “interviewed” Dalton McGuinty. And now, first the video, then our transcript.

“Madam Mayor I hope you…aren’t selling this to taxpayers”
Hazel McCallion sells Kathleen Wynne

Councillor Jim Tovey, Chair, General Committee, June 26, 2013

Madam Mayor.

Mayor Hazel McCallion, General Committee, June 26, 2013

As you know, the citizens in the area have been approaching us to get rid of the unfinished [gas] plant —on that property.

So I wrote the Premier, as directed by Council, and she came back, and advised me that it’s up to the City to do it because Loreland owns the property. When I got the letter, I had a discussion with Ed Sajecki. He brought me the Auditor General’s Report. And much to his surprise, and mine, we find out, the Province paid Loreland $4.1 million for the land, but allowed them to keep it.

Councillor Nando Iannicca, General Committee, June 26, 2013

…well, $600 million but we don’t really own the land. I mean how much more badly can they have screwed up this file? And they’re going to sell this to taxpayers? Good luck.  Madam Mayor I hope you and I and the local council aren’t selling this to taxpayers.

Mayor Hazel McCallion endorses Kathleen Wynne and calls for Liberal Majority, May 14, 2014

I supported her as leader of the Liberal Party and I still support her as Leader of the Province.

We’re looking forward to an election in [sic] June the 12th. Uh. The last thing the Province needs is a minority government.

Councillor Nando Iannicca, General Committee, June 26, 2013

Madam Mayor I hope you and I and the local council aren’t selling this to taxpayers.

You know this gas plant has taken over —far too much. Terrible mistake. Water under the bridge.

Councillor Nando Iannicca, General Committee, June 26, 2013

600 million dollars later, this is a site that we have no claim to. We’re out two-thirds of a billion dollars as taxpayers.

Local government is uncertain in the Province of Ontario because of the minority government.

Councillor Nando Iannicca, General Committee, June 26, 2013

It’s embarrassing!

Mayor Hazel McCallion endorses Kathleen Wynne and calls for Liberal Majority, May 14, 2014

I want to say, Madam Premier, I endorse a lot of your policies —I have to say.

Councillor Nando Iannicca, General Committee, June 26, 2013

I’m shocked. Oh my God. [other councillors laugh] “But we don’t own it.”  “We don’t own it.”

Councillor Jim Tovey, Chair, General Committee, June 26, 2013

Yeah.

So, to the people of Ontario, please look at the issues, and mark your ballot accordingly.
