The MississaugaWatch Sniff Test

This question is the MISSISSAUGAWATCH Sniff Test for all Ontario municipal Mayors and Councillors:

Do you support asking the Ontario government to extend the investigative authority of the Ontario Ombudsman to include municipalities?

If the answer is not an UNQUALIFIED "Yes!", ask "Why not?" and proceed with extreme caution.

Living next door to Halton Region is an interesting experience to be exposed to Peel Region Going’s on. We even remember an Official Plan being cancelled & then restarted because of something like your 9th line area of Hazelwood getting caught building houses too close to the Urban separator also know as a Town Line up here which made us even more curious to wonder what else goes on that doesn’t seem to be so called news worthy ???

    Hi there, Terra Cotta area friends of Don Barber” (that’s quite the nom-de-Net…}

    You wrote, “

I filed a Freedom of Information on Halton Hills regarding the banning of one of its citizens, Derek Williams (Prior to that Halton Hills had banned one other and attempted to sue the editor of the independent online Halton Hills which really was the ONLY news coming out of Halton.

Halton Herald Editor Al Kirouac successfully fought for the Freedom of Speech and click here for the summary of that court case at Wikipedia.

I also acknowledged Kirouac, Barber, and Batista in a previous Blog: “DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER, Pryé s totalitou!, Bekæmp systemet!, Weg met Grote Broer! À bas le Grand Frère!, Nieder mit dem großen Bruder!, L’mata im Ach HaGadol!,, Abbasso il Grande Fratello! Fratrum magnum deice! Doloy Starshego Brata! Abajo con el gobierno!” click here.

I actually went right inside your Halton Hills town hall and did a video surveillance “pop-in” test. Got a great story that I won’t be sharing on the Net any time soon.

Can tell you this, of the evil empires on the list of Ontario municipal evil empires, Halton Hills is worse (and likely way-worse) than Mississauga.  Halton Hills has nothing resembling a Freedom of Information Department. All their records are on paper making my efforts to get The Story about the Derek Williams ban start at over $1,000 and no way —if I’m to spend a thousand, it’s got to be here, Watchin’ Mississauga Big Brother Watchin’ me/us.

    That’s the pathetic news.

And speaking of pathetic news… that’s why so many citizens are turning to Blogging. To either GET the truth out there (based on Freedom of Information, audio or videotape) and reading the truth/FACTS.

Pathetic news is a huge part of the Ontario Municipal Governance Pathology.  And it’s not just limited to the local papers. Even the Toronto Star sucks big time when covering municipal affairs.

There are no Edward R. Murrows in this millennium.

WELCOME TO MISSISSAUGAWATCH where we raise just One Question.

QUIS CUSTODIET IPSOS CUSTODES? (Who Watches the Watchers?)

Oh! and you being a friend of Donald Barber’s, here’s The Donald in his most important deputation.

    ATTENTION MISSISSAUGANs and GTA’ers

There’s a new Blogger at the Mississauga News website who’s worth a read and above all, support. He refers to himself as “The Happy Investigator”.

His first Blog entry is entitled “By-law Compliance in Mississauga” and his lament is only too familiar.

    In part, he wrote:

“If you have been wronged by the Mississauga By-law (Compliance) department you are not alone. The question is what are we going to do about it? You have paid your taxes for the city services and the By-law enforcement is a city service. But, you keep paying your taxes and you still are wronged by the by-law people because when you submit a valid by-law complaint they do a half job or just nothing. “

In his introductory sentences, I immediately recognized a brother.

I left a lengthy and detailed comment that I hope will help him and others in his predicament. No, not actual fixing of his problem —can’t. (it’s pan-Provincial, malignantly-Systemic) but at least he now knows that he’s not alone.

Interesting that his “About the Blogger” states, “Investigator of government cover-ups!”

He sounds like someone in desperate need of a digital audio-recorder, fresh batteries —and a back-up  digital audio-recorder with back-up fresh batteries!

Have to laugh, that this is CANADA!
